Hordeolum - eyelid disorder usually due to an acute staphylococcal infection that affects the sebaceous glands of Zeis at the base of the eyelashes, or meibomian glands. Common name is the pitcher.

Hordeolum - Signs, symptoms and causes

- the most frequent cause is blocking the sebaceous glands, hordeolum is more common in young and elderly patients orce. Hordeolum site can be triggered due to a poor Igen, eye rubbing, lack of water, or sharing towels present.

Hordeolum - Treatment

Prevention hordeolum (pitcher) depends on proper hygiene. This can reduce the risk of eye infection and other pitcher. It also should not be used in common cosmetics, make-up towels to wash every night.

Passes without treatment in about two weeks and treatment than 4 days. As a first step a warm compress may apply. Eyes can be washed with a mild shampoo such as children. Drug treatment is based on ophthalmic ointments based erythromycin, amoxicillin antibiotics. In cases unresponsive to drug therapy can be reached surgery to drain the pus out.
